Dear Montrose County School District Parents and Guardians,

This afternoon our Return to Learn plan will be published and distributed to our Board of Education, parents, teachers, staff and community. You can access the dedicated Return to Learn website at the following link, which contains the complete English / Spanish plan, as well as an FAQ section, health and safety annexes, related documents, resources, videos, and more.

I want to thank the many parents, teachers, and community members who collaborated with us to create this plan.  I hope when you read the plan you will see that we listened. Whether you attended the Community Focus Group sessions, submitted comments via surveys, through email or social media messages, we heard you!

Because the opening of schools is so personal and is met with a wide variety of perspectives, we knew that our plan must have choices and be agile.  We also know that the Coronavirus situation is continually evolving and changing.  As changes occur, we will make every effort to communicate clearly and swiftly so that you are accurately informed.

Whether your family decides to participate in online learning or in-person learning, our teachers and staff are ready to welcome back our students and will continue to create environments that are warm, safe and encourage positive community building.  Social distancing does not mean we have to be anti-social.  There is a lot of information to absorb within this plan.  If you have questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to let us know.  These are difficult times and these are difficult decisions.  We are here to help!

Thank you for your continued support!

Take care,

Dr. Carrie Stephenson
Superintendent
Montrose County School District Re-1J

Safe 2 Tell

All kids should feel safe here at Columbine and in our community. If your child is involved in or witnesses any type of behavior that is hurtful or unsafe, we would like to know about it. Please report it to our office in person or give us a call at 249-2581. If you or your child do not feel comfortable reporting an incident in person, we offer an alternative option through Safe 2 tell. Safe 2 tell gives our students, parents and school, another avenue for reporting behaviors that are hurtful or unsafe. Click on the safe 2 tell logo for more information.
